Polymer Dryer can not reach 80 degree

Our lab purchased a new polymer dryer and when I tested it, I found out the machine can not get the set temperature. I tested with PLA and set the temperature as 80 degree celcius. The machine can only reach 70 degree and showed "heating" on the screen all the time. Any suggestions?

Dear @ucfmae ,

Thank you for publishing about your issue.

I am so sorry about that situation. I have not faced this exact issue so far, so I would like to discuss it with my colleagues.

It would help me a lot if you could share with me the following information :

- Could you please estimate the time it took for the dryer to reach 70°C, and how long it was 'stuck' on 70°C when the target was 80°C ?
- How full was the hopper in terms of volume percentage ?
- Can you please empty the hopper and run a quick test on 80°C and 100°C ?

In the meantime, I will look for answers and do my best to find a solution asap

Please let me know if you have any additional questions

Best regards,
Louis

Thank you @louis for the information. I will test the polymer dryer as you suggested and get back to you as soon as possible.

Hi @louis, I tested the dryer again. This time it works fine. For an empty hopper, it takes 9 minutes to increase the temperature from 25 degree to 80 degree.  And it takes another 8 minutes to increase to 100 degree.

For a 1/4 full hopper, it takes 13 minutes to increase the temperature from 33 degree to 80 degree.

I did the tests exactly the same as last week. Somehow it works OK this week.
