ER02 - Heater temperature too high

A few easy steps to check the heater status and resolve the error message of the Filament Maker TWO.

Each heater attached to the barrel of the Filament Maker TWO has a dedicated thermocouple; it measures the temperatures to ensure the machine responds correctly. When the temperature exceeds its maximum value, the machine shuts down as a safety feature to prevent additional damage.

Faulty thermocouple

This error might appear when a thermocouple sends faulty data back to the system and indicates that the machine is too hot, where it actually is normal temperatures.

  1. Check the data of the machine of the extrusion experiment via the InfluxDB dashboard.
  2. Does it indicate a sudden rise (peak) in temperatures, or does it slowly keep going up?
    1. If there's a sudden peak: the thermocouple might be faulty, and needs to be replaced.
    2. If the temperature keeps rising slowly, an internal/software issue might cause the set temperature to be ignored.

System or software error

This error might appear when the temperature set by the system is not maintained by the heater, and the heater keeps receiving power and thus heating up the barrel.

  1. Does the temperature of one of the heaters start rising, without any user input after starting the machine?
  2. Does the temperature of one of the heaters suddenly "spike", resulting in the error?
