ER14 - Failed to read Hopper thermocouple

The hopper attached to the barrel of the Filament Maker TWO has a dedicated thermocouple. It measures the temperatures to ensure the hopper is cooled sufficiently to prevent early melting of granulates. When the thermocouple cannot be read by the software, the system cannot guarantee the safety.

Step 1: Check the thermocouple connection

The thermocouple is connected to the hopper thermocouple port at the top of the mainboard near the barrel.

Turn OFF the Filament Maker TWO and remove the power plug.

1. Remove the hopper and hopper ring from the top plate, by turning it anti-clockwise.
2. Remove the top plate of the Filament Maker TWO, by unscrewing the top screws. This can be done with the Allen key supplied in the maintenance kit.
3. Find the thermocouple cable leading to the connector of the actuator board.
   1. Is there any visual damage to the thermocouple?
   2. Is the connector properly seated in the mainboard electronics?
4. Reconnect or reseat the thermocouple if applicable.

Step 2: Replace the thermocouple

If the thermocouple is seated correctly but still not functioning, it might malfunction internally. In this case, the thermocouple has to be replaced. Please contact us to assist with the issue.
