Filament Maker TWO tensioner arm
The tensioner arm is a smart automation system that regulates the spooling speed and tension. Learn here how it works and why it is critical to the Filament Maker TWO.
The tensioner arm is located between the puller wheels and the spool holder. When extrusion is successful and the spooling procedure is initiated, the filament will automatically 'touch' the tensioner arm to inform the system.

Depending on the stiffness of the filament being extruded the arm is pushed in an upwards direction (1). The arm pivots around a central axle. The rotation is measured by a hall effect sensor (2), which translates into a calculated spooling speed by the system. This way, we ensure the spooling system and extruder work together, without putting too much tension on the filament. In short this means there is little tension from the spooling mechanism when the arm angle is close to vertical, and the spooling speed will increase. When the arm is pulled towards a horizontal orientation, the spooling mechanism slows down. |
