This is a quick step by step guide on how to remove the Filament Maker back panel in order to carry out maintenance procedures.
This preparation is done to help customers who would like to carry out repairs or maintenance on their Filament Maker. Removing the back panel of the machine will give you access to...
- the main circuit board (PCB) called "DevoBoard"
- cable connections to the DevoBoard (sensor, thermocouples, motor etc.)
- heaterboard
- cable connections to the heaterboard
- power supply
- inside of switch box
- winder mechanism
Collect the following items:
- soft cloth or towel
- hex key 2 mm
- hex key 2.5 mm
- hex key 4 mm
- piece of foam or something similar to bring the machine up to height
Step 1: Remove the spool
Step 2: Secure the base
Use a piece of foam, wood, or something similar to bring the machine to the right height. The machine must be brought up to height to remove the winder cover.
Step 3: Remove winder handle
Start by unscrewing the adjusting handle by hand.
Step 4: Unscrew bolts
Unscrew the 6 bolts with a hex key.
First unscrew the 5 bolts around the edges of the back plate, shown with the red arrows.
Lastly, loosen the 1 bolt in the center of the back plate, indicated with the blue arrow.
Caution!
There is nothing attaching the back panel to the machine. The heavy metal plate can fall and cause damage can fall off.
Carefully place it somewhere soft and out of the way.
Now that the back panel has been removed, the inside of the machine is completely open and visible.
