Filament Maker X10 - Firmware release notes
The release notes below summarize the details of every release for the Filament Maker X10 so far. Please see our dedicated article how to update the Firmware on the Filament Maker X10.
With each firmware update, the user interface or settings might change or move around. Learn how to use the touchscreen interface of the Filament Maker X10
Firmware version 0.5.0 - 8th of October 2026
This update adds support for the FMX10 machine with a conveyor belt, introduces the Vibrating Feeder to help keep materials flowing smoothly, and adds new controls to improve the spooling process.
Important compatibility note: FMX10 machines and machines with a heatsink installed cannot use firmware versions older than this update. Older firmware versions do not support the FMX10 or the heatsink.
Vibrating Feeder
The new Vibrating Feeder helps maintain a steady material flow when processing powder, pellets, and shredded materials.
- Enable or disable the Vibrating Feeder in System Settings.
- When enabled, adjust the following settings in each filament preset:
- Frequency: 50–350 Hz
- Interval: Set how often the feeder vibrates.
- Pulse Level: Adjust the strength of the vibration pulse.
- Vibration settings are saved separately for each filament preset, allowing you to use different settings for different materials.
Heatsink Settings
A new heatsink toggle is available in System Settings.
- Enable the setting if a heatsink is installed on your machine.
- The machine can record the heatsink temperature for monitoring and future improvements.
Note: Heatsink temperature monitoring does not currently affect machine operation.
FMX10 Conveyor Belt Support
This update adds support for the FMX10 machine equipped with a conveyor belt.
- The puller wheel diameter is automatically adjusted for the conveyor belt setup.
- Diameter control sensitivity is also adjusted automatically to match the setup.
These adjustments help configure the extrusion process for the FMX10 without requiring manual changes to these parameters.
New Boost Button for Spooling
The new Boost button gives you more flexibility when managing filament slack during spooling.
When is Boost available?
The Boost button appears next to Start Spooling when spooling is running and the tensioner arm is hanging down, indicating that there is slack in the filament.
What does Boost do?
- Temporarily doubles the maximum allowed winder speed relative to the puller's speed.
- Allows the winder to take up slack in the filament more quickly.
- Automatically turns off when the tensioner arm rises again.
- Can also be turned off by pressing Boost a second time or stopping spooling.
Once Boost is turned off, the winder returns to its normal tension-control operation.
Heatsink Temperature Logging
When a heatsink is installed, its temperature is recorded in InfluxDB under the heater measurement, with the heatsink tag.
This allows the temperature data to be monitored and used for potential future improvements. It does not currently change how the machine operates.
