Overview

The nozzle cover (small circular disk) rests below the nozzle and is held in place by the nozzle plate (large black metallic panel).

It is particularly important to avoid backflow, preventing any damage to the inside of the extrusion system. It also functions as added insulation.

If you notice damage on the nozzle cover, it might be useful to inspect the nozzle, too as part of a maintenance check.

Carrying out a full nozzle change is a lengthy and complicated procedure but reading ahead and getting familiar with the parts and functions can be very useful.
