Troubleshooting
Firmware issue
As we're continuously updating and developing the firmware of the Filament Maker TWO, we need to be aware of any issues or bugs it might cause. Please ensure your machine is on the latest firmware update.
Please visit this page to download the latest firmware.
Check if the cables are connected properly.
1. Remove the hopper. To remove the hopper turn the bottom ring as indicated by the blue arrow below. You might have to use some force to remove the hopper.
2. Unscrew the 8 m4 bolts (indicated by the red arrows below) from the top panel. Remove the top panel and place safely on the side.
3. The touchscreen is now accessible. There are three different flatcables with their connectors (red arrows below). Gently push the flatcables further in to ensure that they are connected properly.
4. Place the top panel back, and re-attach the hopper.
5. Turn the machine ON, to check if your Filament Maker TWO screen works now.
If the screen still does not work, it's possible that there's a hardware issue. Either the screen or flatcables are damaged. Please Contact Support.
Replacing the screen
Please Contact Support to request a new screen.
1. To replace the screen, press on the back side of the screen, applying pressure to all four corners in order to get it out of its casing. The screen is attached with 3m tape, as you can see in the picture below.
-
- Heat the tape: Use a hair dryer or a low-temperature hot air gun to soften the tape's
adhesive. This will make it easier to pull the tape loose. Hold the hair dryer a few centimeters
from the surface and slowly move back and forth. - Use a thin card or knife: Once the tape is heated, try sliding a thin card (such as a plastic
card) or a knife under the tape to gently loosen it. Be careful not to damage the surface. - Use a solvent: There are solvents like isopropyl alcohol, acetone or a special glue remover
you can use to get rid of glue residue. Carefully apply the solvent with a cloth or cotton swab
and let it soak in for a while, after which you can remove the tape. - Use a tape remover: There are products specially designed to remove tape and glue residue
without damaging the surface.
- Heat the tape: Use a hair dryer or a low-temperature hot air gun to soften the tape's
Caution! Try these methods carefully so you don't damage the material underneath
2. Once you have the new screen, remove the 3m tape and gently press the new screen in the casing.
3. Connect all the (flat) cables and place the casing like to top cover back on.
4. Re-attach the top panel, and the hopper.
5. Turn on the filament maker and check if there are any issues.
