Firmware update for the Filament Maker TWO

Instructions on how to update the firmware of your Filament Maker TWO.

These updates add a variety of improvements, fixes, and features to increase the quality of your extruder. We are constantly getting helpful feedback and innovative requests from users that we can implement with the goal of continuously upgrading the Filament Maker TWO.

Influx Dashboard

Updating the firmware might provide improved data collection features that are not automatically represented in InfluxDB.
Download and install the latest dashboard available to your firmware version.

Offline firmware update

You will need the following:

  • Filament Maker TWO switched on.
  • Empty portable USB drive (at least 4GB capacity)
  • Downloaded Firmware update file (access below)

Download the latest firmware:

Download firmware version 0.1.28 - Released 12th of March 2025.

Step by step instructions

    1. Plug the USB drive into your PC, and format it to FAT32 system.
      Note: Formatting the USB will delete any data on your USB drive, ensure any important files are backed up before formatting.
    2. Download the latest firmware zip file onto your PC (linked above).
    3. Extract the zip archive. It can be extracted directly or into a folder of the same name. The folder contains another single folder titled 'update'.

      Drag the 'update' folder onto USB drive (it should be located in the USB's 'root folder').

    4. The USB can now be safely removed from the PC.
    5. Ensure the Filament Maker TWO is turned on and all heaters and the screw are disabled.
    6. Plug in USB drive into the USB port. You can find this port to the right of the filament sensor, accessible via the extrusion area.USB port-1
    7. As soon as the USB drive is plugged in, the update will start automatically.
    8. The machine will fully reset once the update is finished. The positioner will also reset, and the screen will briefly flash.
    9. The update is complete. The new firmware version can be verified via the 'Settings > System' screen.
    10. It is now safe to remove the USB drive.

    Note: Machines that are running Firmware version 0.1.27 or older, will have no visual indication that the firmware is updating. Please wait for a minimum of 10 minutes after inserting the USB drive.

      Online firmware update

      Soon to be available. Keep an eye on the change notes of firmware updates. Online updates will be available directly through the machine settings directly on the machine.
