Instructions on how to update the firmware of your Filament Maker TWO.
These updates add a variety of improvements, fixes, and features to increase the quality of your extruder. We are constantly getting helpful feedback and innovative requests from users that we can implement with the goal of continuously upgrading the Filament Maker TWO.
Offline firmware upgrade
For the first iteration, the firmware update can be done offline. Soon it will be available online, too.
You will need the following
- Filament Maker TWO switched on.
- Empty portable USB drive (at least 1GB capacity)
- Downloaded Firmware update file (access below)
Download the latest firmware:
Download firmware version 0.1.14 - Released 4th of December 2024.
Step by step instructions
- Plug the USB drive into your PC, and format it to FAT32 system.
Note: Formatting the USB will delete any data on your USB drive, ensure any important files are backed up before formatting. - Download the latest firmware zip file onto your PC (linked above).
- Extract the zip archive. It can be extracted directly or into a folder of the same name. The folder contains another single folder titled 'update'.
- The USB can now be safely removed from the PC.
- Ensure the Filament Maker TWO is turned on and all heaters and the screw are disabled.
- Plug in USB drive into the USB port. You can find this port to the right of the filament sensor, accessible via the extrusion area.
- As soon as the USB drive is plugged in, the update will start automatically.
NOTE: This procedure will start without any visible indication and may take up to 10 minutes. Please be patient! - The machine will fully reset once the update is finished. The positioner will also reset, and the screen will briefly flash.
- The update is complete. The new firmware version can be verified in the 'settings' menu.
- It is now safe to remove the USB drive.
